Teknion Wins 5 awards at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada 2009

TORONTO, September 25, 2009 − Teknion’s dna line of collaborative lounge seating and tables by Acer Design won Gold in the Seating: Lounge Chairs and Sofas category. The Marini Executive Task Chair designed by Conrad Marini was a Silver winner in the Seating: Desk/Workstation Chairs category. Also earning Silver was the fx Workplace Accessories Collection designed by Carl Gustav Magnusson. Powermat – a wireless technology system that simplifies a user’s power requirements in the work environment – earned Silver in the Innovative Products category. Powermat was also the Best of Competition winner at NeoCon in Chicago earlier this year.

“These awards celebrating design excellence are a tribute to the collaborative efforts of Teknion’s renowned international designers working closely with our own in-house design team,” says Frank Delfino, Teknion President, World Markets. “dna collaborative lounge seating, the Powermat surface, fx workplace accessories and our booth all earned the top award in their respective categories – quite an achievement and one that we are all very proud of.”

Teknion’s Learning Lounge & Collaborative Space (#1901) was awarded Silver in the Booth competition. Created by Vanderbyl Design, the 1,200-square-foot space features a 16-foot-high surround that floats off the floor and directs the visitor’s attention to the product, while also creating an illusion of spaciousness. Nature-inspired graphics reflect Teknion’s commitment to sustainable business practices.

The Innovation Awards “celebrate the industry’s leading manufacturers and suppliers within the fields of design and architecture, and recognize outstanding achievements in new product design. Each product selected for an award demonstrates excellence in design, technical innovation and creativity,” according to the Interior Designers of Canada and Merchandise Mart Properties (Canada) Inc., managers of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. Twenty-eight judges with a wide range of experience in the design community selected 52 products to receive awards.
