The Total Office opens new showroom in Abu Dhabi

The Total Office opened their new showroom in Abu Dhabi yesterday. The showroom has been designed under the specifications laid down by the US Green Building Council and is aiming for LEED Certification. Conservation of energy, lighting, water and material use and the incorporation of several other green strategies form the basis of this certification.

The Total Office took this step to show their commitment to the environment and the future. This step is in line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces’ conservation of energy & environment and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, UAE Prime Minister, Vice President & Ruler of Dubai’s Green Building initiative.

On an average, The Total Office Abu Dhabi showroom will use 40% percent less energy than a typical showroom of the same size and utilize technologies such as automatic dimming lights, LED lighting, automatic, indoor environment quality, water efficiency, etc.

“Aiming for the LEED certification for our showroom shows our commitment to the environment and sustainable consumption,” said Siddharth Peters – Managing Director of The Total Office. “Designing our showroom and office facilities in such a way that we use less energy than a facility designed without this certification is a win-win situation for us leading to lower expenses and a positive impact on the environment.”

The Total Office followed the guidelines set forth in LEED CI version 2.0 (Commercial Interiors). Credits were earned for optimizing energy performance, use of low-emitting materials including systems furniture and seating that have been Greenguard Certified for indoor air quality, providing views for 90 percent of seated users, incorporating strong recycled content and use of regional materials.

The layout of the showroom has been envisioned and executed by Mr. Mehdi Moazzen from Point of Design in conjunction with the LEED Consultant Mr. Samuel Keehn from Energy Management Services.

“It was important for us to reflect our manufacturers’ efforts in providing sustainable office solutions by extending the green chain of custody to our clients through our new facility.” said Siddharth Peters.

“The new Abu Dhabi showroom faced a number of challenges in implementing sustainability,” said Samuel Keehn. “Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE are on fast track incorporating LEED and other sustainability criteria into projects but along with this rapid push, some areas and components are not moving at the same pace.  The existing building’s infrastructure, lack of materials and the documentation necessary even when materials are compliant and different understandings of what green is, all lead to challenges on this project.  However, the integrated approach, from the client to the contractor, and from concept to commissioning, addressed these issues, creating a project to be proud of.”

“The new Total Office showroom allows us to showcase our design-driven workplace solutions highlighting ergonomics and environmentally sustainable products in a visually stunning environment,” said Siddharth Peters, Managing Director of The Total Office. “Creating sustainable environments has been our aim and a part of our corporate social responsibility; we believe our facility reflects this commitment. We’ve met the standards required and expect to attain LEED-CI Gold certification. Opening a new showroom in Abu Dhabi gives us the opportunity to serve our clients in a much more efficient way out of Abu Dhabi & Al Ain”.

This showroom offers exciting office furniture solutions from Ergonomics chairs, desks, cabinets etc. from a number of top brands including Teknion, Kusch & Co., Emmegi, & Casamania, HAG etc.

Featuring some of the latest product lines from Teknion along with a collage of carpet patterns from Whitespace truly highlights how design and functionality can co-exist in a sustainable environment.
